Hills Ford Stages Rally Begins Resident & Business Liaison

Thursday, 27 November 2025 by Organisation Team

Preparations for the 2026 Hills Ford Stages Rally are entering a key phase, with resident and business liaison set to begin across Shropshire in the coming days. The event, taking place on 19–20 September 2026 and featuring a major ceremonial start in Shrewsbury, is expected to attract competitors, spectators, and media attention from across the UK.

Community liaison teams will begin visiting households, farms and businesses situated on or close to the planned closed-road stages. Their role is to provide early information, listen to concerns and ensure a smooth lead-up to one of Shropshire’s major motorsport events in 2026.

Most importantly; The organisers are inviting parish councils and community groups in the areas hosting the rally to apply for charitable donations, aimed at supporting local projects, community facilities and initiatives.

Event Media Officer said:
“We want people to know what the rally brings to the region and to feel involved in the build-up within their own communities. The event brings a lot of positives to Shropshire and Shrewsbury, and we’re working to make sure those benefits are maximised for everyone.”

Clerk of the Course Dan Lister added:
“Supporting residents and businesses throughout the build-up to the rally is a priority for us. Clear communication is at the heart of what we do. As a not-for-profit event, giving back to the region is really important — we value the communities that host us, and we want this rally to be something the whole area can feel part of.”

Further updates on liaison activity, the charitable donation process and wider community engagement plans will be released through parish councils and the rally’s official channels over the coming weeks.

Ludlow Castle Motor Club Joins Hills Ford Stages Rally

Monday, 24 November 2025 by Organisation Team

Cheltenham Motor Club is delighted to welcome Ludlow Castle Motor Club as a key supporter of the Hills Ford Stages Rally as the event moves into Shropshire for 2025. The LCMC are the first of a number of clubs they are talking, to join the rally’s team. Their local knowledge and behind-the-scenes support will play a vital role in ensuring the rally runs smoothly and safely in their area.

But their involvement is about more than rallying—it’s part of the wider “Get Involved” programme, encouraging people of all ages to discover the opportunities that come with joining a local motor club.
“Having Ludlow Castle Motor Club join us as we bring the Hills Ford Stages Rally to Shropshire is a huge boost,” said the Media Officer for the Hills Ford Stages Rally. “It’s not just about running a rally—it’s about showing people that clubs are communities where anyone can belong. Motorsport brings together people of all ages and backgrounds, and being part of a club gives you a reason to get out, meet new friends, and feel part of something bigger. That’s what our Get Involved programme is all about—whether you want to race, volunteer, or simply enjoy the social side, there’s a place for you.”
Motorsport is about far more than competition. Local clubs create communities, foster friendships, and give people a sense of belonging. From children dreaming of F1 to older enthusiasts seeking a fun hobby, joining a club opens doors to new experiences, new friends, and a reason to get out of the house.

Ludlow Castle Motor Club makes joining easy and affordable, with membership starting at just £15 a year. The club hosts a wide variety of activities, from the Classic Tour, which recently brought together over 50 cars for a 120-mile route through the Shropshire countryside, to the annual Soap Box Derby, raising funds for local charities.
And you don’t need to drive competitively to get close to the action. Marshalling is one of the best ways to be part of motorsport—helping run stages, keeping events safe, and enjoying one of the best views in the house. UK marshals are highly trained and in demand around the world.

“We’re proud to be supporting the Hills Ford Stages Rally as it comes to Shropshire,” said Matt, Ludlow Castle Motor Club’s Media Officer and Social Secretary. “Our club has always been about bringing people together, whether through classic tours, social events, or volunteering at rallies. Working with Cheltenham Motor Club and Motorsport UK on this event is a great opportunity to showcase what local clubs can do, and we hope it inspires more people in our area to get involved.”

“The support from Ludlow Castle Motor Club has already been invaluable as we prepare to run the Hills Ford Stages Rally in Shropshire,” said Dan, Clerk of the Course. “Their local knowledge and enthusiasm make a real difference, and it shows the strength of the motor club network when clubs come together to deliver an event. We’re excited to be working alongside them and to welcome competitors, officials, and fans to this year’s rally.”

Through “Get Involved: Why Join Your Local Club”, Cheltenham Motor Club and Ludlow Castle Motor Club are showing that there’s a place for everyone in motorsport—whether racing, volunteering, or simply enjoying the social side. A huge thank you to Ludlow Castle Motor Club for helping make the Hills Ford Stages Rally a reality in Shropshire and for joining the drive to inspire people to get out, join in, and experience everything motorsport has to offer.

New Home, New Chapter: Hills Ford Stages Rally 2026

Thursday, 11 September 2025 by Organisation Team

Cheltenham Motor Club is delighted to announce that the Hills Ford Stages Rally will return in September 2026—this time in a brand-new location.

With the continued support of Hills Ford, the event will now take place in the county of Shropshire on 19th and 20th September 2026. This move marks a significant and exciting evolution for the rally, which has long been a highlight of the club’s calendar.
In collaboration with the forward-thinking Shropshire Council, the event will feature a service location and ceremonial start within the Shrewsbury area, bringing motorsport energy right into the heart of the community. Afternoon stages will be held on the Saturday at a historic private estate, once part of the iconic RAC Rally, offering fans a nostalgic yet thrilling experience. Sunday will showcase a selection of road rally classics, winding through the stunning scenery of the Shropshire Hills, delivering a route that blends technical challenge with breathtaking views.

This relocation not only preserves the legacy of the Hills Ford Stages but enhances it—bringing new opportunities for competitors, spectators, and the local economies.

Dan, Clerk of the Course, said:
“We’re incredibly excited to confirm the return of the Hills Ford Stages in 2026, and even more so to be bringing it to Shropshire. The team has worked tirelessly to make this happen, and I want to thank every single person involved for their dedication and belief. We’re hugely grateful to Hills Ford for their unwavering support throughout this journey, and to Shropshire Council for being so accommodating and visionary in their approach. Their enthusiasm for the event and recognition of its wider benefits have been truly refreshing. To our loyal supporters—thank you for sticking with us. Your encouragement has meant everything, and we can’t wait to welcome you back to the stages next year.”

Plans for 2026 are well underway, and organisers have shared their exciting vision with Tim Hill, who is thrilled about new, more challenging stages, enhanced logistics, and expanded community programmes. Hills Ford’s support guarantees top-level competition, extra support for marshals and volunteers, and ongoing promotion of careers and education in motorsport. The much-loved ceremonial start and finish, alongside planned fan experiences and opportunities for local businesses, are developing and evolving behind the scenes—shaping up to be something quite exciting that the organisers will announce very soon.

Stages named for 2024

Friday, 16 August 2024 by Organisation Team

*** The Stages Finally Get Named ***

It has been a long journey for the entire team, starting way back in October of last year. We must continually thank the team for their tireless efforts in inspecting every metre of each stage, with safety always being paramount in their assessments.

As many of you know, the work has been carried out in consultation with parish councils, individual residents, and regional authorities. Tweaks and changes to the routes have been ongoing to ensure that we deliver the very best in motorsport, benefiting as many people as possible. The professionalism of the team in presenting documentation, action plans, and communication logs to the councils and local authorities has been exceptional.

But here we are, with 99% of the stages confirmed. Even at this stage, the work continues, with everyone constantly checking and double-checking the details.

We couldn’t have achieved this without the knowledge and support of our sponsors, who have sponsored individual stages. Some sponsors are involved because they live on the stage, others because they have customers on the stages, or simply because they wanted to support the rally personally. From the Press Office’s perspective, it’s been torturous not being able to thank our sponsors sooner.

We are also in the final stages of organising two official spectator stages, media locations, and a spectator parking area at the Service Park in Much Marcle, which we will announce closer to the date.

Once again, a big thank you to our sponsors:

-> Our Stage Sponsors (Not in any particular order)
Castlemorton – R.A.Swann & SFP Store
Petty France – MAR Motorsport Ltd
Hole in the Wall – Moran Motorhomes & R.J. Mathews Haulage
Marcle Hill – AlliSport Ltd & ANDY LANDY Motorsport .

Okle Green – R A Swann Ltd & Rallynuts Motorsport
Redmarley – Hartpury Farms

Ceremonial Start – Ledbury Town Centre – Hawk Security
Service Area – Much Marcle – Rallynuts Motorsport

And, of course, a special thank you to Hills Ford for being our valued title sponsor this year, and for providing us with hire vans for our safety and stage setup kit over the weekend.

Harper Adams University Joins Hills Ford Stages to Boost “Get Involved” Mission

We’re thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration with Harper Adams University for the Hills Ford Stages open day on August 11th at Ledbury Rugby Club. This programme highlights the evolution of motorsport careers, showcasing that today’s technicians and engineers are highly skilled professionals who undergo extensive training to master the complexities of modern vehicles.

A Truly Memorable Day

Friday, 02 August 2024 by Organisation Team

**We hope the pictures make you smile too. **

We hope the pictures make you smile.

It was a proud day for us all to see our two Road Smart rally ambassadors, Sandra and James, take to the wheel at the Silverstone Rally School last week. (Apologies for the delay; a lot has been happening behind the scenes at rally HQ.)

The day started with Sandra and James feeling a bit unsure of what to expect. However, as soon as Izzie and Mike from the school took over, you could see our ambassadors begin to relax, and the lessons commenced.

Mike’s hidden skills in driver training quickly became apparent. He had a clever way of making both Sandra and James comfortable in the car, focusing on their individual skill levels without creating competition between them. The cheers from the sidelines were memorable as Sandra got the rally car more sideways with each attempt, clearly mastering the handbrake. Her fearless approach and determination were truly impressive, and it was evident that Mike had developed a special fondness for her unique style, something he will likely cherish.

James, on the other hand, required a bit more space to find his footing. Being one of the youngest qualified helicopter pilots in the UK at just 20 years old, his mental acuity was never in question. James’s quiet and humble demeanour only added to his uniqueness. As the day progressed, under Mike’s expert guidance, he began to understand the intricacies of rally driving—finding the right balance between losing and regaining traction.

Izzie provided the perfect balance to Mike’s instruction, making everyone feel welcome and ensuring we were well taken care of with food and drinks. As the afternoon continued, James nailed the figure-of-eight, demonstrating a keen understanding of maintaining balance and control, which Mike had emphasised.

Every session with Mike brought new insights and challenges, making the day special for everyone involved. The real thank you from the Hills Ford Stages team goes to Sandra and James, who, through their enthusiasm and dedication, gave us a day filled with unforgettable moments.

Truly memorable.

The Images of the day from Paul Mitchell. Capture the day in ink perfectly, thank you Paul you were a true gentleman too.! Just wait until you get to see the filming of the day. by Ben Linge, you’d be fooled into thinking these two had done all of this before. and the teaser question…. who is driving the car when? we will leave that for you to ponder.

It’s personal for many of our sponsors.

Thursday, 01 August 2024 by Organisation Team

**Sponsorship News **

We would like to express our thanks to Mr. Dave Turner for his generous support of our marshals. Dave Turner, a good friend of the rally organisers and the owner of Volkswagen & Audi Centre, has been actively involved in the rally community. He shared his thoughts on his contribution: “Yes, this contribution is from me personally. I believe supporting the marshals is money well spent.”

Dave Turner is also known for showcasing his rallying skills over the years and understands how important our marshals are to the success of these events.

Dave has made a significant contribution towards our marshals, and we are excited to share more details in the coming days. We deeply appreciate his generosity and commitment.

** There was a minor misunderstanding in our initial communications. We initially believed that Dave’s support was on behalf of the EMCOS club, but it was, in fact, a personal contribution. We apologise for any confusion and are grateful for Dave’s personal involvement.*

Don’t forget, by being a part of the Hills Ford Stages as a marshal, there is something very special for you too. We value your support and want to thank you with not only a marshal’s goodies bag but also by entering every marshal into two free prize draws. Hills Ford has kindly donated two long weekend breaks in one of their camper vans, one for each day.

So come along, find out, and be a part of something special. Talk to the British Rally Marshals Club, register with Another Day In Orange, and be in for a chance to receive a big thank you from us at the Hills Ford Stages Team and our title sponsor, Hills Ford.

“The BRMC are pleased to once again be supporting the Hills Ford Stages and will have many marshals and officials out undertaking numerous roles in support of the event. We will also be running a Taster Day on the 15th of September for those wishing to get into rally marshalling but are unsure on how to do so. For further information on the Taster Day please contact the BRMC via email on recruitment@brmc.org.uk “… Al Page, Recruitment Coordinator, British Rally Marshals Club.
